Dear friends,

There's been a rumor going around for some time. One that we here at 90 Seconds thought if we ignored, it would just go away. "Why," we said to ourselves and no one else in particular, " would anyone ever think this falls within the realm of reality?" Still, we now have thought aloud to ourselves and absolutely no one else in particular, it's a persistent rumor. Still let's adress it now.

We do not film in front of a green screen. It's not a blue screen either. There is no elaborate tracking to keep a persistent illusion that the host is in a studio when in fact he's in a tiny box with a pastel-colored drape behind him. That's just silly — holodecks are way easier for production.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Display without Boundaries: Kinect Turns Bowl into a Touchscreen - IDF 2012

Display without Boundaries: Kinect Turns Bowl into a Touchscreen - IDF 2012

kinect touch screen http://www.mobilegeeks.com Imagine a "Display without Boundaries", this is a pilot project from Intel that turns any surface into a fully capable multi-touch screen. That means you can turn any wall, table, or item into a touch-screen device that recognizes multitouch gestures and actions.

They are able to do this by using a Microsoft Xbox Kinect, a computer, and their specially designed software and recognization algorithms. It won't be hitting your homes anytime soon, but it's possible using hardware readily available on the market. Feeling inspired?

In addition to the slew of laptops, today brought word that Google and Apple are engaged in some very high-level discussions about patents. We also got a look at what Bezos and co. have been up to when they're not watching episodes of Parks and Rec on Amazon Instant. All that and more, from your internet-free pal Paul Miller. And all in 90 seconds! He's so efficient, that Paul.

Apple v. Samsung, Nintendo Power, and more

Apple v. Samsung, Nintendo Power, and more

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhäuser Gate. LTE service activated in the presence of the Queen. I've seen two major companies let a jury of nine civilians decide the fate of their intellectual property and millions — if not billions — of dollars in damages. I've watched magazines rise and fall as sands in the hourglass fall.

Galaxy Note 10.1, RIP mobile Flash, and more
People of the world: this is not a GIF. But wait, don't leave! It's something more. It's something better. It's a long-form GIF with an audio component. One that's capable of high-quality visuals but loads more gradually, less choppy. A GIF you can jump around in. And it has a name that isn't hotly debated. Now, you may be worried about this Brave New World of "video" — that's what we call it, which is some foreign term for "GIF with enhancements." Thomas Houston has taught us so much.
